Chrystal Flowers is the walking definition of heart-led professionalism in education. She has worked with my daughter and I for the last two years to develop a peaceful, individualized direction that has honored her character development and helped her to blossom as a leader in her classroom and on the playing field.

At the same time, Ms. Flowers is a consummate educator in her own right, and she encourages children to flourish at their own pace. Her classrooms are full of peace and gentle positivity, and she inspires independence because the children trust that she is right there whenever they do need her. Under Ms. Flowers' guidance, my child began reading between ages 3 and 4. Her vocabulary and language skills rival those of children twice her age, while her investigative and science skills are where she thinks she's focusing. She knows she wants to be an entomologist, and from age 3 onward she has received the utmost support from Ms. Flowers to embrace that curiosity and apply it throughout her life.

Ms. Flowers has a way with adults, too. She excels at empathetic, one-on-one guidance that respects both children and their grown-ups. I've worked with her personally to help my child face psychological challenges, and the lessons she's instilled in us both carry through our daily routines.

I highly recommend working with Ms. Flowers for individual planning and evaluation needs, as well as classroom consultations.

Classroom Parent

Chrystal served as a teacher for my son for 3 years in a Montessori program for the primary/children's house program, from pre-K through kindergarten. During that time, I got to know Chrystal not only as an extremely gifted, passionate, hard-working, seasoned teacher, but also as an amazing human. Chrystal has a gift beyond what words can describe with educating and helping to develop the whole child, emotionally, academically, and spiritually. She knows how to connect with children and their families and meet them exactly where they are in their journey. When I sent my child into her classroom each day, I truly felt like I was sending him into school to his second Mamma, who also happened to be an incredibly gifted and seasoned teacher.

Chrystal worked diligently and successfully to teach my child all of the critical foundations for phonics and reading. Reading is not something that comes naturally to him but Chrystal was able to patiently and effectively teach him the foundations for reading; it was definitely a marathon not a sprint and by the time he finished his kindergarten year, I was so pleased with his progress and the strong foundation he had to move into 1st grade reading.

My son is naturally gifted in math and science and Chrystal nurtured this interest and helped it blossom for him. He advanced in math and science grade level expectations and was so excited to go to school to advance his natural curiosity, learn about math and science and also share this insatiable science knowledge with Chrystal and his peers. I was particularly happy that Chrystal loves all living creatures and fostered his interest in digging in the dirt, looking under rocks, and tromping through the woods to safely explore nature's beauty. But Chrystal also supported him in self-paced learning in science and math so that he maintained interest and was challenged.

Although Chrystal was responsible for an entire classroom of students when she served as my child's teacher, I always felt that she dedicated significant time and attention to my child and supported our family in understanding where he was academically and emotionally, and worked with us to ensure that he was thriving. She talks often about our children's hearts, and she is incredible at nurturing that. Additionally, she brought to our attention during Pre-K that our son would be better served continuing another year of Pre-K rather than advancing to kindergarten. We were so grateful for that guidance and think it was a great decision to give our son another year in pre-K. Chrystal also helped us identify that our son would benefit from occupational therapy and additional reading tutoring.

My son still speaks so highly of Chrystal and recently communicated that he likes his current teacher but that Chrystal is the best. He formed a very strong bond with her and she set the foundation for lifelong learning for him!

Tutoring Client Parent

Chrystal is the resource every child and family needs! She has a gift for knowing and understanding the hearts and minds of children that allows her to give unique insight into the specific need of each child. Her years of experience in the classroom, as a private tutor, and as an exceptional mother have prepared her well to guide children and families in nuanced plans that develop the whole child. In working with my two boys, she was able to clearly see their individual needs, strengths, and to help me as a parent know how to meet those needs and to encourage their gifting. Chrystal injects confidence into the whole family and allows learning to be a place of peace and joyful exploration! Because Chrystal developed my kids early on, they continue love learning and thrive in and out of school!

Chrystal is a remarkable person and a gifted educator. I am so grateful that she is a part of my son’s life! I love that Chrystal truly “sees“ my boy - she sees his heart, his struggles, his strengths and his victories and she comes alongside him to help him blossom as a student and as a person. What a gift to have an educator that loves my son! Chrystal is also wise and discerning, knowing when to challenge a child and when to patiently wait for the learning process to unfold. Chrystal does it all with joy and peace that is contagious and inspiring. I wouldn’t want to do homeschooling without her support, and I’m so grateful for her partnership!

My family has had the tremendous blessing of having Ms. Holder as the kindergarten teacher for two of our children.  There truly are not words to convey how wonderful the experience was in having her as our boys primary educator for those years.  While I hear many stories from friends on how difficult the transition to kindergarten was for their child, we experienced nothing but joy, excitement and lots of wonderful learning. I was particularly blown away by how quickly my boys learned to read!  The Barton reading system and her one-on-one attention clearly worked wonders.  She knew my children so well. Exactly what their strengths were, areas that they might need encouragement, and very practical steps I could take as the parents to help them succeed and thrive in those areas.  Her love and passion (and skill!) for what she does and for the kids she works with comes through in literally every conversation, smile and lesson.  We could not recommend her enough!
